How many people can say they work for a company that truly celebrates its history? How many people even know their company history or care? Well, HOK (Hellmuth Obata + Kassabaum), the world’s largest architectural design firm, wants everyone to know where they came from, how they got here, and the people and projects that contributed along the way. In fact, they just launched a “living archive” http://www.hok.com/history/ that celebrates their 55-year legacy and allows employees to contribute as it evolves – keeping the experiences alive for current and future team members.

Switch worked with the HOK team to record “living history” storytelling segments that comprise the “spoken word” portion of their History + Lore website. Together with video segments that illuminate the lives of the founders -George Hellmuth, Gyo Obata and George Kassabaum – the narrative story of the company journey is provided to visitors who explore the site.

Switch is excited to play a bit role in this evolving story and looks forward to its evolution.

M.O.B.- Money Over Blight

While flashmobs have made a huge impact on business and communities over the last several years, there’s a new type of mob on the horizon. I’m talking about the carrotmob. It’s a grassroots effort coming out of San Fran to reward businesses for being environmentally responsible. The carrotmob is a group of enthused consumer activists spending money at businesses that are striving to be more socially/environmentally responsible. The plan is to start small, document results, and grow. In a couple of years, this movement may be changing the way large corporations do business. Very cool idea. if you’ve ever lived in a big city, you know that moving day is right up their with tax day and light-your-underwear-on-fire-day.

designed to help urban dwellers move from flat to flat a bit easier…and greener…the Vrachtfiets are pedal powered moving vans. concepted and created by two engineering students, these two-man machines are designed to haul some serious weight while cutting down on pollution, noise and parking tickets.

How long until we see one of these loaded down with VitaminWater, Muscle Milk or some other product to be sampled or sold?
